Sylvain Cazenave grew up surfing in Biarritz, France, on the Atlantic ocean. In 1976 he began windsurfing and was part of the French Surfing Team for European and International competitions from 1969 to 1979. After finishing high school in Biarritz, he attended the University of Bordeaux where he studied Economics and English. He began taking photos of surfing in 1975, and followed with windsurfing photos in 1976. Since 1980, Sylvain has come to Ohau's North Shore and Maui every winter for surfing, windsurfing, body boarding, bodysurfing and of course, pictures.
